What is Model UN?
The purpose of Model UN is to raise student awareness of international issues through simulations of the United Nations-style parliamentary procedure as students debate and "resolve" current global problems. Model UN meets every week in room 301 from 2:45-3:30PM. Additionally, NHSMUN will attend a number of competitions at local and regional universities such as Johns Hopkins University and Penn State Harrisburg to represent assigned countries and compete against students from other schools. Club members must demonstrate a willingness to prepare for model, such as research their assigned countries, write position papers, and speak publicly. Ultimately, it is the goal of NHSMUN to become competitive with the elite schools and be able to attend more prestigious Model UN conferences regionally and nationally.
